Deepak Mishra, Jharkhand Spirit : In a significant outreach initiative, Giridih Deputy Commissioner Ramnivas Yadav on Thursday visited several remote tribal villages located in the foothills of the revered Parasnath Hills to assess the problems faced by local residents and review the status of basic infrastructure.
Demonstrating a hands-on approach, the Deputy Commissioner travelled through difficult terrain, riding a motorcycle on rough stretches and walking across narrow footpaths and seasonal streams to reach villages that remain disconnected from proper road connectivity.
During the visit,Shri Yadav interacted directly with villagers, sitting with them on traditional cots (charpoys) and patiently listening to their grievances. Residents highlighted the hardships they face due to the absence of all-weather roads, especially during the monsoon when access to healthcare, education, and essential services becomes extremely difficult.
Assuring the villagers that their long-pending demand for road connectivity would soon be fulfilled, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to expedite road development projects worth Rs 1.28 crore. He instructed the concerned departments to ensure that the sanctioned schemes are implemented without delay.
He also announced that two new PCC (Plain Cement Concrete) road projects would be approved as part of the district administration's efforts to strengthen connectivity in the remote tribal region.
Officials accompanying the Deputy Commissioner inspected the proposed road alignments and discussed the technical aspects of the projects on the spot. The administration said improving rural infrastructure remains a priority, particularly in remote and tribal areas where better connectivity can significantly improve access to education, healthcare, government welfare schemes, and economic opportunities.
The issue of poor road connectivity in the area had recently drawn widespread attention after a video from Daluwadih village went viral on social media. The footage showed villagers carrying a pregnant woman on a traditional cot (charpoy) through difficult terrain to reach a hospital, as the village had no motorable road. The incident highlighted the harsh realities faced by residents of the remote tribal region and sparked concerns over the lack of basic infrastructure. Even decades after India's Independence, the absence of road access to some villages remains a stark reminder of the development challenges that still persist in remote areas.
