According to a press release issued by the Office of the
Superintendent of Police, Giridih, the first incident took place on July 11
near Mangal Murti Marriage Hall under Mufassil police station limits, where two
unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals snatched a gold chain from a woman at
around 6:00
pm. Later the same evening, at around 7:00 pm,
another woman was targeted in a similar chain-snatching incident near Barganda
Power House under Town police station limits. Separate cases were registered at
the respective police stations.
Considering the seriousness of the crimes, Superintendent of Police Giridih
constituted an SIT under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer
(Sadar). During the investigation, the team relied on human intelligence,
technical evidence and CCTV footage. Raids were carried out at several
locations in Dhanbad,
Bokaro and Katihar in an effort to identify and apprehend the
accused.
The investigation was carried out by an SIT comprising officers from the
Sadar Sub-Division, Mufassil, Town and Pachamba police stations, along with
personnel from the district's technical branch.
