Jharkhand Spirit, Giridih : A pilgrim lost his life due to a heart attack on Sunday at the renowned Jain pilgrimage site, Parasnath Hills. The incident occurred while the devotee was trekking the hill and suddenly collapsed near Kalikund.
The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old
Padmachand Modi, a resident of Panagar in Madhya Pradesh. He had begun his
pilgrimage around 2 AM. He reportedly collapsed near Kalikund during the
ascent. Family members immediately rushed him to the Sevayatan Health Center in
Madhuban, from where he was referred to Giridih. Unfortunately, doctors at
Giridih declared him dead on arrival.
The tragic incident has left the family in deep
grief. The mortal remains were taken from Giridih to his ancestral home in
Madhya Pradesh. Reports suggest that Padmachand Modi was part of a group of
devotees from Jabalpur who had arrived at Shikharji and were staying at
Labenchu Bhavan.
Notably, this marks the second such incident in
as many days. On Saturday, 62-year-old pilgrim Munna Jain also passed away due
to a heart attack while on pilgrimage at Parasnath Hills.
These
back-to-back incidents have raised concerns among devotees and authorities
alike regarding health preparedness during pilgrimages at the sacred site.
