Jharkhand Spirit, Giridih : In a shocking incident from Belakhutta village under Gawan police station area of Giridih district, the body of 25-year-old Nisha Devi was recovered from a village well on Wednesday morning. Nisha was the wife of Pappu Yadav. The discovery of the body created chaos in the area, drawing a crowd of villagers. Police reached the spot, retrieved the body, and took it to Gawan police station. Preparations are underway to send the body for post-mortem in Giridih.
According to preliminary information, Nisha had a minor quarrel with her mother-in-law Ashtama Devi over cooking food. Soon after, she allegedly jumped into the well and ended her life.
However, Nisha’s family has accused her in-laws of murder over dowry demands. They claimed that during her wedding in 2023, they had given ₹3 lakh in cash, an TVS Apache bike, gold jewelry, and other household items. Despite this, from 2024 onwards, her husband and mother-in-law allegedly began harassing her for a gold chain.
Her parents alleged that she was beaten to death by her in-laws and then thrown into the well to cover up the crime.
