Jain Community Holds Silent Protest March in Madhuban,

Submits Memorandum Seeking Protection for Saints

Deepak Mishra, Jharkhand Spirit : Members of the Jain community organized a silent procession in Madhuban on Monday in protest against the alleged brutal killing of  Jain Sadhvis in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. The procession witnessed active participation from local community members as well as devotees visiting from outside regions.

The march was conducted under the banner of the National Sant Suraksha Abhiyan (National Saint Security Campaign) following a call by Muni Praman Sagar Ji Maharaj and his Sangh, currently staying at Gunayatan in Madhuban.

The silent procession began from Vimal Samadhi Temple and passed through the main roads of Madhuban before reaching Madhuban Police Station. There, representatives of the Jain community submitted a five-point memorandum addressed to the President of India, the Prime Minister, the Governor and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and other constitutional authorities through the Station In-Charge.

In the memorandum, the community demanded special security arrangements for Jain Sadhus and Sadhvis undertaking Pad Vihar (travel on foot), implementation of a National Saint Security Policy, and a high-level impartial investigation into the death of Aryika Mataji. The memorandum also sought the introduction of a formal Sant Suraksha Protocol for the safety of saints across the country.

Prior to the procession, a religious gathering was held at Gunayatan where Muni Praman Sagar Ji Maharaj expressed deep concern over repeated attacks on innocent saints and ascetics in different parts of the country. He stated that the Jain community has always been a follower of peace and non-violence. According to him, such incidents were earlier treated merely as accidents, but now there is a need for permanent and institutional solutions instead of temporary reactions.

Muni Shri said that saints and monks serve as spiritual guides for society and wherever they travel, they spread awareness, morality, and spirituality. Therefore, ensuring their safe and uninterrupted movement is extremely important.

Expressing grief over the incident, he said that the loss of Aryika Shrutmati Mataji and Aryika Upashammati Mataji, who had spent nearly two decades in spiritual practice and penance, was deeply painful. Referring to available video clips related to the incident, he stated that the possibility of a conspiracy behind the tragedy cannot be ruled out and demanded a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.

The protest march and memorandum submission drew significant attention in Madhuban and highlighted growing concerns within the Jain community regarding the safety of monks  traveling across the country.
