Equanimity Is Not Brought from Outside, It Is Lived Every Day : Muni Praman Sagar

Muni Praman Sagar ji with devotees
Deepak Mishra, Jharkhand Spirit : Inner peace can be achieved only when a person cultivates equanimity (Samata Bhava) within, said  Muni Shri Praman Sagar Maharaj while addressing devotees at Gunayatan.

Delivering a thought-provoking spiritual discourse, Muni Shri said that equanimity is not something that can be brought from outside; it is a way of life that must be consciously practiced and lived every day. According to him, the quality of human life is determined by one's thoughts and perspective. "As our thinking is, so becomes our experience of life," he observed.

He explained that positive and balanced thinking enables a person to remain calm and joyful even during adverse circumstances. Pointing towards the gathering of devotees, he remarked that although many of them were accustomed to modern comforts, they were sitting contentedly on simple mats without any special facilities. "The happiness visible on your faces does not come from external comforts but from your inner state of mind and positive thinking," he said.

Emphasizing that lasting happiness does not depend on material possessions, Muni Shri stated that true peace originates from mental balance and an attitude of equanimity. Life, he noted, does not always present favorable situations, but a person with the right mindset can face every challenge with composure and cheerfulness. Practicing equanimity frees the mind from stress, restlessness and dissatisfaction, ultimately leading to genuine inner bliss.

Speaking about illness and life's difficulties, Muni Shri advised devotees not to waste their energy in constant complaints. He said that anxiety and frustration neither cure disease nor bring peace to the mind. Instead, one should accept hardships and illnesses as the fruition of one's karmas and face them with patience and equanimity.

"When we accept a difficult phase as a temporary part of life, our suffering becomes lighter and our mind remains filled with positive energy," he said. Religion, he added, does not teach people to escape from life's challenges; rather, it teaches them to live through every circumstance with courage, patience and inner strength. Acceptance, instead of resistance and complaint, transforms adversity into an opportunity for self-development.

According to Avinash Jain 'Vidyavani', National Spokesperson of Gunayatan Madhya Bharat, Muni Shri concluded his discourse by urging devotees to maintain equanimity in every situation, place unwavering faith in the Jain doctrine of karma, and remain steadfast on the path of dharma.
