Giridih, July 10: Giridih Police have arrested five alleged cyber criminals from a forest area behind Middle School in the Taratand police station area during a special raid conducted on Friday. The operation was carried out by the Giridih Cyber Police Station following a tip-off received by the Superintendent of Police.
According to the police, the accused confessed during interrogation that they used fake Android application (APK) files named customersupport.apk and wifiairtel.apk to commit cyber fraud by deceiving unsuspecting users. Following the arrests, Cyber Police Station Case No. 21/2026, dated July 10, 2026, has been registered against the accused.
The arrested persons have been identified as:
Janardan Mandal (26), resident of Korbandha village, Taratand.
Ashok Kumar (24), resident of Jhitri village, Taratand.
Bablu Kumar Mandal (26), resident of Korbandha village, Taratand.
Deepak Kumar Mandal (20), resident of Jhitri village, Taratand.
Vishnu Kumar (23), resident of Korbandha village, Taratand
During the raid, the police seized 10 mobile phones, 13 SIM cards, one laptop, and four motorcycles believed to have been used in cybercrime activities.
Police records show that two of the arrested accused have previous criminal histories. Ashok Kumar had earlier been jailed in connection with Giridih Cyber Police Station Case No. 03/2020, while Bablu Kumar Mandal had previously been arrested in Giridih Cyber Police Station Case No. 10/2020 and Taratand Police Station Case No. 08/2016.
The raid was led by Cyber Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rameshwar Bhagat along with other officers and personnel of the Giridih Cyber Police and district police force.
